Position Title:
Part-Time Direct Support Professional - 1:1 Supports (6 Month Contract)
Nature of Position:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professionals to join our team as a part-time staff. We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to work one-on-one with a client in a supportive care role. This position requires flexibility and a strong sense of responsibility, as the successful candidate will be expected to assist with care needs as they arise, including evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays.
Hours and Availability:
This is a 6-month contract position, that requires 56 hours bi-weekly during which we are only able to accommodate limited requests for time off. Commitment and consistency are essential to ensure continuity of care.
A weekly schedule consists of Monday 8am-2pm, Tuesday 8am-2pm, Thursday 8am-4pm, Friday 8am-4pm
Responsibilities and Duties Include, but are not Limited to:
Case Management and House/Team Responsibilities:
- Assist with task assignments and contextual work explanation under the direction of the Team Lead.
- Aid individual in financial matters
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Person-Centered Plans (PCP).
- Administer medication
Client Service:
- Foster client-centered approaches to encourage skill development, self-determination, and community inclusion.
- Provide personal care with respect for individual dignity and preferences.
- Implement program activities and goals while networking within the community for inclusion opportunities.
- Assist with daily living tasks such as laundry, cleaning and meal prep.
Communication:
- Maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders through various formats.
- Provide positive feedback to clients, supervisors, and external parties.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Teamwork:
- Collaborate respectfully with colleagues and contribute to a positive workplace environment.
- Participate in team meetings and share information for consistency of care.
Quality and Standards of Performance:
- Ensure safety, security, and wellness of clients and colleagues.
- Adhere to all applicable legislation and contribute to identifying areas for improvement.

Required Skills, Education, and Knowledge:
- General educational background, usually equivalent to a Grade XII high school education.
- A relevant 2-year Community College Diploma, related University Degree or equivalent experience in the field is considered an asset.
- Experience in the social services field, preferably with individuals with developmental disabilities is considered an asset.
- Fluency in the French language is considered an asset.
- Police clearance with vulnerable sector screening.
- A valid G driver's license and insurable by the agency’s insurance company.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to respond to individual needs and crisis situations in a calm, productive manner.
- Well-developed organizational and communication skills are essential.
- Experience working with and following Behaviour Support Plans (BSP’s) is considered an asset.
- Must be committed to be available for call in shifts.
